COMMENDATION FOR CHRIS MADDEN

King of Prussia, PA, (Feb. 18, 2009) - In his last official act, Dave Gilbert, 2008 president of the International Furnishings and Design Association, awarded a presidential commendation to Chris Madden for her efforts in Operation Cozy Comfort.

Ms. Madden, noted designer, television host, and IFDA member of the NY Chapter, was contacted by Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. to help provide a softer “touch of home” to wounded soldiers in Iraq. Chris approached her blanket vendor, WestPoint Home for a donation of Chris Madden® Plush twin blankets and soon 500 were sent to the Air Force Hospital in Iraq.

As former U.S. Senator (NY-D), Hillary Clinton said, “It is my hope that Chris Madden’s continued efforts will increase public awareness and inspire others to become actively involved in helping disadvantaged people and strengthening our communities.”

The IFDA commendation to Chris Madden read, in part, “For your efforts to bring comfort to those who sacrifice on our behalf, we salute you.”

In thanking IFDA for the honor, Ms. Madden said, “Despite these tumultuous and difficult economic times, it remains vital that we continue to be vigilant in our philanthropic efforts to help those causes and organizations that are near and dear to our hearts.”
